Sophie is an Architect at Blake Hopkinson Architecture and Design based in North Shields. After leaving Newcastle University, she has designed residential, commercial, education and healthcare projects of varying scale, ranging from bespoke one-off houses to large apartment blocks and master planning schemes.
Sophie’s love for travel and intrigue in understanding how other cultures develop has taken her to many places throughout the world including China, Mexico City, Guatemala, Australia and even working for a year in Manhattan. However, her love for the North East always sees her returning home where she remains closely linked with the University, co-leading an Architecture and Urban Planning module. Why NAWIC? “Since joining NAWIC I have met so many talented and ambitious women who have chosen to make a career working in the construction sector. I enjoy hearing their backgrounds and hope in time, to influence and support future members entering the construction industry.” |
