Sian is currently a Design Manager for Sir Robert McAlpine and previously spent 12 years as Construction Manager for Laing O’Rourke. She started her career as a site secretary before going to university and progressing from graduate manager to construction manager before deciding on a role change to design management.
She has specialised in Healthcare projects (acute and mental health) and previously worked on the Newcastle Hospitals PFI (Freeman & RVI) and mental health units for Northumberland Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust, on projects ranging from £10M to £270M. Sian has a BSc in Construction Management and MSc in Construction Project Management. She has always held a site based role and holds skills cards such as SSSTS, PASMA, First Aider, Fire Marshal and temporary works inspector. Sian has just recently joined the NAWIC committee. WHY NAWIC? I am passionate about encouraging women into site based, technical roles and also those who may want to work their way from a non-technical role into a technical role. From the first meeting I was impressed with the diversity, commitment and drive of the women on the committee to really support other woman in the industry. |
