Caroline is a CDM Health & Safety Advisor at Summers Inman based in Newcastle. She has worked at the practice for a number of months, previously working as a Structural Engineer for a large engineering consultancy before undertaking her NEBOSH Construction Certificate and heading into the world of Health & Safety. She graduated from Newcastle University with an MEng Civil Engineering degree, and has always had a keen interest in Architecture, Engineering and the Construction Industry as a whole.
Caroline is part of the CDM Health & Safety team at Summers Inman, and is working on a wide range of projects from multi-million pound hotels to small residential schemes both in Newcastle and across the country. As a Structural Engineer Caroline worked within design teams on a number of projects ranging from new build steel frames, including the CIS Building at Northumbria University, to concrete designs, refurbishments and a variety of survey works. One of the aspects of Caroline’s job she enjoys the most is getting out onto site and seeing projects being constructed.
Caroline has attended NAWIC events since university, and is proud to now be Chair of the NAWIC North East committee inspiring and encouraging more women into a career in Construction. Caroline says ‘the organisation has supported and encouraged me over the last 12 years. The network is fantastic to be a part of and through NAWIC North East I have made contacts who have mentored me through the early stages of my career and I can now pass this experience on to new members of the organisation. The organisation is growing from strength to strength and I am looking forward to working with the fantastic committee to ensure 2020 is another successful year for NAWIC North East.’
